Short Statement: The burden is increasing for two reasons. First, the forms will now be used by both Direct Loan and FFEL Program borrowers, whereas the last former submission was only used by Direct Loan Program borrowers. Second, the mandatory forbearance form that formerly included only the internship/residency forbearance will now also include the mandatory forbearances for those serving on national guard duty as well as those that receive benefits under the Department of Defense's Student Loan Repayment Program, which necessitates additional data elements.
