Abstract:
The information to be collected will be used by FRA to ensure that the Congressional mandate to require railroad carriers to establish and maintain a toll-free telephone service to report emergencies at all public, private, and pedestrian grade crossings for right-of-way over which they dispatch trains will be carried out. The information to be collected will also be used to monitor and enforce compliance with the agency regulation that carries out the Congressional mandate.

Total burden requested in this submission is 56,308 hours. The change in burden from the last approved submission amounts to an increase of 1,000 hours. This increase in burden is a program change resulting from the new/explicit requirement under section 234.311(c). Thus, there are no adjustments. The current OMB inventory shows a total burden of 55,308 hours, while the present submission exhibits a total burden of 56,308 hours. Hence, there is a total increase of 1,000 hours. There is no change in cost to respondents from the last approved submission.
