Abstract:
The information is required of institutions of higher education that apply for new grants under SIP. Without the collection of this information, the Department cannot award gratns under Title III, Part A SIP authorized under the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended. The program staff and peer reviewers will use the information to evaluate applications and make funding decisions.

Short Statement:
The purpose of this Change Worksheet is to include additional burden hours and respondents to the 84.031A Strengthening Institutions Program approved application booklet. The increases are the result of adding an absolute priority to the fiscal year (FY) 2013 competitions. A draft Notice Inviting Applications is attached for your information. It is estimated that the absolute priority will generate 1) and additional 300 respondents at 65 hours per response and 2) an annual burden hour increase of 25 hours per response for the 300 currently approved respondents. Therefore, the new total burden hours for this competition would be 39,025 total burden hours and 600 responses. This represents an increase of 27,000 hours over the currently approved 12,025 total annual burden hours.
