Abstract:
Without a requirement for owners and operators of light-sport aircraft to retain and transfer current status records of applicable safety directives, owners, operators, and FAA safety inspectors are not be able to easily determine whether maintenance actions critical to flight safety have been accomplished on special light-sport aircraft. The FAA is therefore amending its regulations (ยง91.417 (a)(2)(v)) to require owners or operators to retain these records.

On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding the proposed collection of information, that the certification covers:
