Abstract:
Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement (McNair) Program Annual Performance Report Program grantees must submit the report annually. The reports are used to evaluate grantees' performance for substantial progress, GPRA, and to award prior experience points at the end of each project (budget) period. The Department also aggregates the data to provide descriptive information on the projects and to analyze the impact of the McNair Program on the academic progress of participating students.

Short Statement:
A difference of +738 burden hours is shown because of the statutory and regulatory amendments to the PE criteria. Specifically, grantees must track the academic progress of McNair participants through doctorate degree completion (10 year period) which will increase the reporting burden by four hours for each grantee. The final regulatory amendments to recordkeeping requirements will require that McNair grantees document the services a student, who is served by more than one TRIO or other federally funded program, is receiving from another program during the project year. This new data collection will increase a grantee's burden by an estimated two hours. Therefore, the burden hour increase for both the statutory and regulatory requirements is six hours. The burden hours per respondent that is currently in the inventory is 5; therefore, the total burden hours per respondent for this revision of a currently approved collection is 11 hours. The current approved collection has a total of 200 respondents (1,000 burden hours), however, due to the new competition that was held in FY2012, the number respondents decreased by 42; therefore, for this proposed collection, the total number of respondents will be 158. The new total estimated annual burden hours request is 1,738 hours.
