Short Statement: Open interpretation of which information is required from industry members to submit marking variance requests, results in incomplete requests and increased efforts (by the industry and the government) to obtain information required to process requests and delays ATF's response time. Therefore, ATF believes the use of a universal form and uniform method to request marking variances will streamline the application process.
