Abstract:
This document contains final regulations under section 1411 of the Internal Revenue Code (Code). These regulations provide guidance on the general application of the Net Investment Income Tax and the computation of Net Investment Income. The regulations affect individuals, estates, and trusts whose incomes meet certain income thresholds.

Short Statement:
The collection of information in the proposed regulations (REG-130843-13), is in § 1.1411–7(g). The information collected in proposed § 1.1411–7(g) is required by the IRS to verify the taxpayer's reported adjustment under section 1411(c)(4). This information will be used to determine whether the amount of tax has been reported and calculated correctly. The likely respondents are owners of interests in partnerships and S corporations. The burden for the collection of information contained in the proposed and final (TD 9644) regulations will be reflected in the burden on Form 8960 or another form that the IRS designates, which will request the information in the regulations.
