Abstract:
This is a survey of seafood and industrial fish processing firms. Firms processing fish from certain fisheries must report on their annual volume, the wholesale value of products, and monthly employment figures. Data are used in economic analyses to estimate the capacity and extent to which processors utilize domestic harvest. These analyses are necessary to carry out the provision of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act. A one-time survey will be added to the annual reporting form, for completion by respondents from this information collection as well as respondents under OMB Control No. 0648-0618. The data collected will be used to update regional fishery economic models. The information collection is necessary in that it has been more than two decades since the model to produce commercial fishery economic impacts and value added for commercial marine products has been updated.
