Abstract:
The information from this collection-of-information is used to monitor and manage participation in groundfish fisheries by NMFS, Alaska Region, and consists of the following permits: Federal fisheries permit, Federal processor permit, and exempted fishing permit. The permit information provides: harvest gear types; descriptions of vessels, shoreside processors, and stationary floating processors; and expected fishery activity levels. Identification of the participants and expected activity levels are needed to measure the consequences of management controls, and is an effective tool in the enforcement of other fishery regulations. The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) will implement cost recovery fee programs for the Community Development Quota (CDQ) Program for groundfish and halibut, and three limited access privilege programs: the American Fisheries Act (AFA), Aleutian Islands Pollock, and Amendment 80 Programs. Two new volume and value reports would be required for the CDQ Program and the Amendment 80 Program under the proposed action -- a Pacific Cod Ex-Vessel Volume and Value Report and a First Wholesale Volume and Value Report
