Abstract:
The Standard requires that employers monitor exposure to hazardous chemicals in laboratories, provide medical consultation and examinations, train workers about the hazards of chemicals in their working areas, and establish and maintain accurate records of worker exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Short Statement:
OSHA is requesting to increase the existing burden hour estimate for the collection of information requirements in the Standard. In this regard, the Agency is requesting to increase the current burden hour estimate from 293,373 to 332,350 hours, a total adjustment of 38,977 hours. Additionally, the capital cost estimate has increased from $41,267,950 to $46,540,670 a total increase of $5,272,720. This increase is a result of an increase in the number of workers requiring medical consultations and medical examinations.
