Short Statement: This request for an extension projects a total respondent burden of 192,998 hours for an increase of 11.5 percent. This burden estimate is based on the hour and dollar burden data submitted by firms for the previous three years (calendar years 2014-16). The increase in total respondent burden hours reflects the increase in the number of investigations which are initiated by outside parties and is beyond the control of the Commission. This increase in turn results in an increased number of questionnaires. While there has been an increase in the number investigations, the number of hours per response has declined for several types of questionnaires. The increase in total cost, in addition to the increased number of investigation, was influenced by the increase in cost per burden hour reported by respondents.
