This information collection is approved consistent with changes outlined in supporting documentation. DHS will publish the updated Form I-9 no later than July 17, 2017. DHS will allow employers to use the previous version (Rev. 11/14/2016) N through September 17, 2017. After September 17, 2017, all previous versions of Form I-9 will be invalid. DHS will publish the I-9 that incorporates changes related to the International Entrepreneur Rule no earlier than the effective date of the International Entrepreneur Rule.

The Form I-9 was developed to facilitate compliance with Section 274A of the Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, making employment of unauthorized aliens unlawful and diminishing the flow of illegal workers in the United States.

On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
