Abstract:
This ICR supports the deployment of the "Food Safety Survey." The goal of the survey is to measure consumers' knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs about food safety. Previous versions of the survey were conducted in 1988, 1993, 1998, 2001, 2006, and 2010. Data from previous Food Safety Surveys and from this proposed survey will be used to evaluate Healthy People 2020 objectives related to consumer food handling and food allergy experiences and will be used to measure progress toward the USDA Food Safety Inspection Service's (FSIS) FY2011-FY2016 Strategic Plan goal consumer food safety goal. Additionally, Food Safety Survey data are used to measure trends in consumers' attitudes and risk perceptions toward food safety. In the next three years, FDA plans to field the survey two to three times. Respondents to this collection are individual consumers.
