Abstract:
APHIS collects from individuals, businesses, and state and foreign governments information related to the importation and quarantine of foreign plant and plant products entering the United States under the provisions of 7 CFR 319 and 352. The information is used to determine compliance with the regulations and is necessary for preventing the introduction of plant pests or entry of unauthorized plant or plant products into the United States.

This reinstatement includes the consolidation of 58 active information collections, 11 discontinued information collections, and 4 information collections in the approval process. It also includes 7,500 hours of projected new annual burden. The program revised 7 CFR 319.56, streamlining the section and simplifying the approval and notice process for new commodities; new information collections for added commodities are no longer required. To report new burden as it is accumulated, the Program will send to OIRA periodic reports as non-substantive changes to this information collection.
