Terms of Clearance: The agency made modifications to the form to increase clarity. It also provided additional information in the supporting statement and updated burden estimates. Prior to resubmission of this ICR, the agency will develop, in consultation with OMB, a simplified instrument for this collection for respondent groups (specifically those conveying citizenship under section 301 of the INA) who are unlikely to need to provide all of the information requested on the current DS-2029 in order to successfully convey citizenship. Additionally, in consultation with OMB, prior to resubmission the agency will revise its instructions regarding “precise” dates to ensure appropriate burden minimization. Finally, in resubmitting this collection, State will provide data on citizenship conveyance and the INA Section used to better quantify the burden associated with completing this collection for various respondents.
