Abstract:
The Health Education Assistance Loan (HEAL) Program regulatory requirements for reporting, record-keeping and notification are approved under OMB 1845-0125 after the transfer from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to the U.S. Department of Education in 2014. The HEAL program provided federally insured loans to students for certain health programs. No new loans have been made since 1998. However, loans are still outstanding and being collected, therefore the regulatory requirements for reporting, record-keeping and notification continue to be needed to administer the program. These regulations work to ensure that participants in the program follow sound management procedures in the administration of the federal loan program. The HEAL regulations were added to 34 CFR 681 on November 15, 2017, when limited technical changes were made to the regulations.
