Abstract:
The Standard requires that employers monitor exposure to hazardous chemicals in laboratories, provide medical consultation and examinations, train workers about the hazards of chemicals in their working areas, and establish and maintain accurate records of worker exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Short Statement:
OSHA is requesting an adjustment decrease in the existing burden hours estimated for the collection of information requirements in the Standard. In this regard, the Agency is requesting to decrease the current burden hours estimated from 695,105 to 622,482 hours, a total adjustment of 72,623 hours. The adjustment is due to an decrease in the worker and establishment estimates for this ICR. Additionally, the capital cost estimate has increased from $79,770,480 to $83,566,611 total increase of $3,796,131. This increase is a result of an increase cost of workers requiring medical consultations and medical examinations.

On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
