Abstract:
This is a revision of a currently approved information collection. The information collection (IC) was previously approved in June of 2019, when it was a new (IC). There are no programmatic or new regulatory changes associated with this information collection. However, this request is being considered a revisions as there is a reduction in both respondents and burden hours. The mandatory collection of information requires the respondents of certain operators of public transportation systems that receive federal funds under FTA's Urbanized Area Formula Grants to develop safety plans that include the processes and procedures to implement Safety Management Systems (SMS). This this revision merely reflects an update to the number of respondents due to a change in the respondent universe based on current data. The burden hours of the previous submission included the hours necessary to develop the Agency Safety Plans. Since the ASP's are now complete, the reduction in the current annual burden hours reflects the fact that respondents only need to update and self-certify completion of their existing plans on an annual basis. The respondent universe must certify compliance with the PTASP requirements to be eligible to receive Federal transit funds.
