Previous terms continue: Approved consistent with the understanding that GenICs under this generic will be limited to follow-up activities in response to acute public health emergencies that may be causing adverse health outcomes. Data collection for investigations conducted under this generic will not exceed 60 days. Investigations conducted for the primary purpose of program evaluation, surveillance, needs assessment, or research (e.g., to contribute to generalizable knowledge) are excluded from this generic pathway. All GenICs submitted under this generic will include all information collection instruments and an abbreviated Supporting Statement Part A.

Abstract:
The goal of this information collection is to create a timely mechanism which will allow a network of regional, state, and local poison centers, supported by CDC, to obtain critical exposure and health information during a public health emergency. This additional information will improve public health response for the site-specific public health emergency or incident. As questions will be tailored to the nature of the public health emergency/incident—a generic mechanism is being employed for collections within this scope to permit rapid response to urgent public health problems. Data collection instruments and methods must be rapidly created and implemented to direct appropriate public health action. Data collection for investigations conducted under this generic will not exceed 60 days.

Short Statement:
This is a revision Generic ICR. The original Generic ICR was approved in February 2017 and an extension was granted in March 2020. The following minor changes were made: • Updating the name of the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC) to their new official and legal name of America’s Poison Centers TM. The name change occurred to simplify their corporate name as a part of a much larger public health impact and visibility initiative and became official on 11 March 2022. • Increasing the annual number of public health emergencies of interest from two to three per year. • Decreasing the estimated time per response from 40 minutes to 10 minutes. • Adding web surveys as a second secure mode of collection to the currently approved telephone surveys. • Modifying the file transfer type from the previous Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) to Electronic File Transfer (EFT) as per new security protocols implemented in April 2022. • Increasing the annual number of respondents from 150 to 500 per call-back investigation. • Increasing the total number of annual respondents to 1,500, which is an increase of 1,200 over the previously approved 300 respondents. • Increasing the annual time burden to 250 hours, which is an increase of 50 over the previously approved 200 hours.
