Abstract: To participate in MAP, lenders will be required to show that they have an experienced multifamily underwriter on staff, a satisfactory record on lending on multifamily housing properties, and an acceptable Quality Control Plan. Qualified lenders can then take advantage of a mortgage application-procesing plan that will take substantially less processing time than traditional processing.

Short Statement: This is the first amendment to the MAP Guide since the 2020 approval. Consistent with OMB’s approval at that time, HUD now proposes to amend and repost the MAP Guide each time it issues a Mortgagee Letter, Federal Register rule or notice, or Administrative Memorandum which amends the Guide. This is in lieu of the former approach of revising the entire MAP Guide on a triennial calendar consistent with the duration of an OMB number incorporating in one action all intervening Mortgagee Letters, Notices, etc. A key benefit of this approach is that HUD will obtain a new OMB number expiration date with each amendment and will not likely confront a pending expiration of its OMB approval for the MAP Guide. In addition, users will have an up to date MAP Guide.
