Short Statement:
Compared to the previous application, there is a significant decrease in the total number of burden hours. This is due to an error in the previous application which inflated the number of projects per federal respondent. After correcting for this error, the true number of burden hours in the previous application should have been 364 hours. Based on this, this has been an increase in the number of response burden hours, now at an estimated 408 hours. The slight increase in burden hours relates to an increase in the number of U.S. respondents combined with an increase in the number of projects reported by these respondents: • Number of Funders. The number of U.S. federal and private funders was estimated based on the number of funders in the 2019-2020 ASD Research Portfolio Analysis Report since the same funders will be included in OARC’s proposed expanded analyses. This number has grown from 18 funders in 2016 to 26 in 2020. • Number of Projects. The number of projects for the “Federal” and “Private” categories was estimated based on the number of projects reported by these funders in the 2019-2020 ASD Research Portfolio Analysis Report since the same funders will be included in OARC’s proposed expanded analyses. The number of autism-related research projects has grown from 1,360 projects in 2016 to 1,536 projects in 2020.
