Abstract:
The purpose of the Occupational Noise Standard and its information collection requirements are to provide protection to workers from adverse health effects associated with occupational exposure to noise. The standard requires employers to establish and maintain accurate records of worker exposure to noise and audiometric testing performed in compliance with this standard.

Short Statement:
The agency is requesting an adjustment. The burden hours associated with the collection of information in the Standard increased from 2,240,636 to 2,368,281 for a total increase of 127,645 hours. An increase in the burden hours was created due to the increase in the number of establishments going from 215,624 to 283,524 and the number of employees going from 3,684,785 to 3,802,698 exposed to 85 dBA affected by the Standard. The agency is also requesting an increase in the cost under Item 13 from $34,812,006 to $39,771,368 to (a total increase of $4,959,362).

On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
