Short Statement: This is a revision of a currently approved collection. There has been no change to the information being collected. However, there has been a decrease in the number of respondents since the last approval. The final compliance date for certification was August 1, 2021. HUD certification continues to be required after the final compliance date for all HUD-participating housing counseling agencies. However, since the majority of existing counselors had to be certified by the final compliance date, the number of current counselors applying for certification has decreased. These counselors represent new counselors in the profession and counselors moving from one agency to another. We do not anticipate the number of counselors we saw prior to the final compliance date to exceed the 3,900 that are currently averaging annually. Cost figures have increased due to calculations required using BLS.gov. There have also been increases in salaries.
