Abstract:
Through the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages Business Supplement (QBS), the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) can quickly capture information on the impact of specific events on the U.S. economy. Short Statement:
Each QBS survey is different and requires a unique burden assessment when it is fielded. The total estimated burden will vary depending upon the length of the questionnaire and sample size. The 2023 Business Response Survey (BRS) is estimated to take an average of 6 minutes to complete. The time of 6 minutes per response was calculated based on experience with testing and prior QBS survey and BRS burden estimates. The total estimated burden for the 2023 BRS is expected to be 8,000 hours. This is 1,164 hours more than the 2022 BRS because, while the sample size is unchanged, the questionnaire is slightly longer.
Annual Cost to Federal Government:
$400,000
