Abstract:
The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Regional Office (AKRO), requests extension of this currently approved information collection. This information collection contains requirements for the Rockfish Program and is necessary for NMFS to effectively administer and monitor compliance with the management provisions of the Rockfish Program. The Rockfish Program is a catch share program for the rockfish fisheries and other related groundfish species conducted in Federal waters near Kodiak, Alaska, primarily by trawl vessels, and to a lesser extent by longline vessels. With this extension, the Termination of Fishing Report is now listed separately in the tables in the responses to questions #12 and #13. The Termination of Fishing Report was previously included with the Rockfish Program Check-in/Check-out Report in these tables. Minor editorial changes have been made to the Application for Rockfish Cooperative Fishing Quota to increase clarity and consistency with the region’s other forms.
