Short Statement: There is an estimated decrease of 398,439 responses and 463,951 burden hours since the last submission. Any change in hours is a result of decreased demand by the public due to rising interest rates and lack of available affordable housing. Also considered is that the previous cycle included record low interest rates which attributed to a marked increase in refinance activity. Integration of the SFHGLP into the National model was necessary to provide lenders improved customer service, as well as consistent turn times and policy interpretation.
