Short Statement:
APHIS is seeking approval of and changes to an extension of a currently approved information collection request. The renewal of this collection requests the following estimated total annual burden hours (82,655) and estimated total annual responses (72,960) to APHIS’ OMB inventory, owing to the significant but numerically stable participation of U.S. dairy herds in the milk testing program. For this renewal, APHIS is adding approximately 1,000 raw milk producers who will be voluntarily submitting samples at a rate of approximately one sample per producer per month. •There are no changes due to Agency discretion. Change(s) in estimate due to adjustments in estimate include: •Sample Collection and Testing of Lactating Dairy Cattle (VS 12-1) had an increase of 1,000 private respondents, 6,000 estimated responses, and estimated 600 hours of burden because APHIS will be taking samples from an estimated new submitter pool of 1,000 raw milk cheesemakers expect to submit one sample a month. The additional sample numbers and burden hours are split between use of the VS 12-1 and the VS 12-2. •The H5N1 Milk Silo Submission Form (VS 12-2) had an increase of 1,000 private respondents, 6,000 estimated responses, and 600 estimated hours of burden because of the voluntary samples from the raw milk cheesemakers.
