Short Statement: The change is due to an adjustment in the agency estimate. EOIR received more applications, on average, during the past three years, which resulted in an increase in estimated hour burden and the estimated cost to the federal government to process more forms. Additionally, EOIR inadvertently excluded from the previous burden worksheet the printing and postage costs associated with printing and mailing paper forms, and there was also an increase in the median hourly wage for attorneys for purposes of calculating the labor costs for respondents. Accordingly, there was an observed increase in the estimated cost burdens, which now include the appropriate printing and postage cost estimates and the updated labor cost estimate for respondents.
