Short Statement: The NRC is amending its regulations to modernize the safe, effective, and efficient use of byproduct material. This action will reduce the need for license amendment requests and exemptions from existing regulations; address other deregulatory issues deemed relevant by the NRC; and support the NRC’s Principles of Good Regulation, including openness, clarity, and reliability. This effort is consistent with, and implements direction in the ADVANCE Act, and recently issued EO 14300, “Ordering the Reform of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.”
