Abstract:
On December 19, 2025, the Federal Communications Commission (Commission) released a Report and Order, FCC 25-84, concerning the advancement of the Class A, LPTV and TV translator services (LPTV Service). The Commission revised its LPTV Service call sign rule – 74.791 to require that stations have a call sign that is appropriate for their service designation. Stations without an appropriate call sign will be required to file a call sign change to designate a rule complaint call sign. Grandfathering of existing call signs is allowed for Class A and LPTV stations. This submission is being made to OMB for approval of these new burdens.
