Abstract:
This is a request for revision and extension of collection of information control number 0648-0699. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Marine Fisheries Services (NMFS) proposes to revise this information collection pursuant to interim final rule 0648-BN39 which would allow landowners to apply for an exception under 50 CFR 216.82 to bring an independently certified rodent detection dog to the Pribilof Islands to detect and prevent the establishment of invasive rodents. A proposed rulemaking requesting public comments was published on December 11, 2025 (90 FR 57442). Due to an administrative error, NOAA did not submit a revision package at that time. NMFS regulations for the subsistence use of northern fur seals under the Fur Seal Act (FSA) requires Alaska Native residents of the Pribilof Islands to report their subsistence need and their actual subsistence take of northern fur seals. The current collection of information allows the NMFS to confirm the annual subsistence use of northern fur seals is consistent with subsistence use quotas established in 2014 and 2019.
