Title: ●Reimbursement Transportation Cost Payment Program for Geographically Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers
Abstract: Implementing section 1621 of the 2008 Farm Bill, which authorizes the Secretary to use available funds to provide geographically disadvantaged farmers or ranchers direct reimbursement payments for transport of an agricultural commodity, or inputs used to produce agricultural commodities, during each of fiscal years 2009 through 2012, for transportation over a distance of more than 30 miles. The program is intended to benefit farmers and ranchers in Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, Palau, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
