Abstract:
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is withdrawing the proposed rule and proposed determination titled Salmonella Framework for Raw Poultry Products” published on August 7, 2024. While FSIS remains committed to reducing Salmonella illnesses linked to poultry products, the agency determined that additional consideration is needed in light of the feedback received during the public comment period. FSIS received thousands of comments from a wide range of stakeholders, including industry, consumer advocates, academia, and government entities. Many comments raised important concerns. FSIS continues to prioritize public health and will further assess its approach for addressing Salmonella in poultry products. |
