Title: Reducing Complexity and Food Waste in the Child Nutrition Programs
Abstract:

This rulemaking proposes changes to adjust meal pattern and monitoring requirements in the Child Nutrition Programs. The purpose of these customer-focused changes is to ensure meal patterns are aligned with the goals of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2025-2030 and help State and local program operators overcome operational challenges that limit their ability to manage these programs efficiently. Implementation of the wide range of proposed changes is expected to improve the nutritional quality of the meals served, simplify operational requirements, reduce food waste, increase efficiency, and make it easier for State and local program operators to provide nutritious meals to children and adult participants.
