On July 17, 2008, the Forest Service published a proposed rule for 36 CFR part 262, Law Enforcement Support Activities. During the comment period, the Forest Service received comments from only one respondent. The Forest Service is publishing a rule to finalize revisions to part 262. These revisions are narrow in scope and clarify specific administrative procedures. In particular, the revisions will clarify and concisely state the Agency's authority to set reward amounts and will streamline the process for payment of rewards and payments for evidence in furtherance of an investigation. Additionally, the Final Rule will make revisions to regulations regarding the impoundment of personal property and will align Forest Service impoundment regulations with that of other land management agencies.
