Title: ●Alaska Roadless Area Management
Abstract:

Under Executive Order 14153, "Unleashing Alaska's Extraordinary Resource Potential," this proposed rule would repeal the final rule promulgated in 2023 at 88 FR 5252 and reinstate the final rule promulgated in 2020 at 85 FR 68688. The 2020 final rule discontinued the application of the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule (2001 Roadless Rule) regulatory prohibitions of activities within inventoried roadless areas in the Tongass National Forest. Reinstating the 2020 Alaska Roadless Rule is anticipated to facilitate rural prosperity and support sustainable communities in Southeast Alaska through increased management flexibility and uphold the agency mission to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the nation’s forests to meet the needs of present and future generations.
