Abstract:

Revisions to 36 CFR 223 are proposed in response to 1997 amendments made to the Forest Resources Conservation and Shortage Relief Act of 1990 (16 U.S.C. 620(a)-620(j)). The proposed revisions will align with the amended Act of 1997, providing clarification and consistency for the public, industry, and agency in several key areas, including streamlining procedures for reporting the acquisition and disposition of National Forest System and private timber that requires domestic processing.
