Title: ●Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act Regulations, Nomenclature Change
Abstract:

The Department of Commerce (Department) amends its regulations under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act (PA) to reflect an organizational change in the Department's Office of the General Counsel (OGC). Specifically, this action removes all references to the position of the Assistant General Counsel for Administration in both regulations and refers instead to the Assistant General Counsel for Litigation, Employment, and Oversight. The Departments OGC recently eliminated the position of the Assistant General Counsel for Administration and created the position of Assistant General Counsel for Litigation, Employment, and Oversight which will have responsibility for matters under the FOIA and the PA. The changes make the FOIA and the PA rules more accurate. Finally, the Office's facsimile number has been changed. The changes have no substantive impact on the public, because the public will have the same substantive rights as it did before the reorganization, but will simply be asked to submit appeals and similar correspondence to a different office within OGC.
