| Title: International Trade Data System Monitoring Procedures for Fishery Products | |
| Abstract: Through this action, the National Marine Fisheries Service revised procedures to monitor international trade in certain fishery products to meet requirements of the Security and Accountability For Every (SAFE) Port Act, the Magnuson-Stevens Act, other applicable statutes, and obligations that arise from U.S. participation in regional fishery management organizations. Specifically, National Marine Fisheries Service integrated its trade monitoring programs within the government-wide International Trade Data System and required electronic information collection through the automated internet portal maintained by Customs and Border Protection. This rulemaking consolidated several existing trade permits and additional seafood commodities were included under the consolidated permit requirement. International Trade Permits will be issued electronically through the National Marine Fisheries Service National Permitting System. A subsequent rulemaking will address the electronic submission of documents for import transactions. | |
