| Title: Generic Amendment for Annual Catch Limits | |
| Abstract: The generic amendment is intended to modify five of the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council's Fishery Management Plans (FMPs). These include FMPs for: Reef Fish Resources, Shrimp, Stone Crab, Coral and Coral Reef Resources, and Red Drum. NMFS and the Council will develop these Annual Catch Limits (ACLs) in co-operation with the Scientific and Statistical Committee and the Southeast Fisheries Science Center. NMFS, in collaboration with the Council, will develop a Draft Environmental Impact Statement to evaluate alternatives and actions for the ACLs. Some examples of these actions include: establishing sector specific ACLs, selecting levels of risk associated with species yields, considering removal or withdrawal of species from FMPs, and delegating species or species assemblages to state regulators. | |
