DOC/NOAA RIN: 0648-AY27 Publication ID: Spring 2011
Title: Fisheries in the Western Pacific; Pelagic Fisheries; American Samoa Longline Gear Requirements
Abstract: Through this action, American Samoa Class B, C, and D longline vessels would be required to use 30 m or longer float lines, maintain a minimum of 70 m between float lines and branch lines, use 15 or more branch lines between any two floats, and keep no more than 10 swordfish per fishing trip. This rule is intended to reduce interactions between American Samoa-based longline fishing operations and green sea turtles.
