Title: Amendments to Implement the Internationally Agreed Requirements of the Antarctic Marine Living Resources Convention Act
Abstract:

The National Marine Fisheries Service amended regulations to implement internationally agreed requirements pursuant to the Antarctic Marine Living Resources Convention Act. These amendments included: increasing the time for advance notice of fishing activities; clarifying requirements in the current regulations; updating reporting formats; reducing the time for advance notice of imports of toothfish species; and enhancing and clarifying transshipment reporting requirements. There are no U.S. businesses currently conducting Antarctic fishing activities governed by these regulations. The U.S. businesses engaged in importing under these regulations were expected to benefit from more efficient operations after these changes were made.
