| Title: Cost Recovery from Amendment 80, Community Development Quota Groundfish and Halibut, American Fisheries Act and Aleutian Islands Pollock, and the Freezer Longline Coalition Pacific Cod Fisheries Man | |
| Abstract: NMFS proposes regulations to implement a limited access permit program cost recovery fee for Amendment 80, Western Alaska Community Development Quota groundfish and halibut, American Fisheries Act and Aleutian Islands Pollock, and the Pacific Cod Freezer Longline Coalition fisheries management programs in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands. The purpose of this action is to comply with Section 304(d) of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, which authorizes and requires NOAA Fisheries to collect fees for limited access permit programs and the Western Alaska Community Development Quota program. As required by the Magnuson Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, the cost recovery fee may not exceed 3 percent of the ex-vessel value of the fish that are harvested under each program; the fees collected would be used to recover the actual costs directly related to the management, data collection, and enforcement of these programs that are incurred by NOAA Fisheries. The cost recovery fees would be collected from representatives for each of the limited access permit programs and the Western Alaska Community Development Quota program. | |
