Title: MMPA List of Fisheries for 2015
Abstract: With this action, NMFS issues a rule to publish the annual List of Fisheries, as required by section 118 of the Marine Mammal Protection Act. The List of Fisheries for 2015 reflects new information on interactions between commercial fisheries and marine mammals. NMFS must categorize each commercial fishery on the List of Fisheries into one of three categories under the Marine Mammal Protection Act based upon the levels of mortality and serious injury of marine mammals that occurs within each fishery. The categorization of a fishery in the List of Fisheries determines whether participants in that fishery are subject to certain provisions of the Marine Mammal Protection Act, such as registration, observer coverage, and take reduction plan requirements.
