| Title: Standardized Bycatch Reporting Methodology Omnibus Amendment | |

Abstract:
The National Marine Fisheries Service implemented regulations to establish a standardized bycatch reporting methodology for fishery management plans of the New England and Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Councils. The purpose of the amendment was to: Explain the methods and processes by which bycatch is monitored and assessed for fisheries in the Region, currently; determine whether these methods and processes need to be modified and/or supplemented; establish standards of precision for bycatch estimation for all Northeast Region fisheries; and document the standardized bycatch reporting methodology established for fisheries managed through the fishery management plans of the Region. |
