Title: ●International Fisheries; Western and Central Pacific Fisheries for Highly Migratory Species; Bigeye Tuna Catch Limits in Longline Fisheries for 2015
Abstract:

This rule established a limit of 3,502 metric tons (mt) of bigeye tuna that may be captured in the area of application of the Convention on the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean (Convention) by longline gear and retained on board by fishing vessels operating as part of a fishery of the United States. The action was taken pursuant to a decision made by the Commission for the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean. The Commission's decision was intended to control the fishing mortality rates of bigeye tuna, yellowfin tuna, and skipjack tuna stocks. This action was necessary in order to prevent the fishery from exceeding the limit, and for the United States to satisfy its obligations under the Convention, to which it is a Contracting Party.
