Title: ●Interim Rule to Set Commercial and Recreational Possession Limits for Blueline Tilefish
Abstract: This temporary rule set commercial and recreational possession limits for blueline tilefish in the U.S. Atlantic Exclusive Economic Zone north of the jurisdiction of the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council (Virginia/North Carolina border) for the remainder of 2016, or until superseded by another action. This fishery was managed under an emergency rule, published on June 4, 2015, and subsequently extended through June 3, 2016. The Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council developed and approved an amendment to its Tilefish Fishery Management Plan, which established long-term management of this fishery. The normal process for review of a management plan amendment, and adoption of implementing regulations through proposed and final rulemaking could not be completed before the expiration of the current emergency measures. This action avoided a lapse in Federal management measures between when the emergency action expired and the implementation of the new management measures.
