Title: ●Management Measures for the 2024 Area 2A Pacific Halibut Recreational Fishery
Abstract:

This action implements the 2024 Pacific Halibut Catch Sharing Plan in accordance with the Northern Pacific Halibut Act of 1982. The Catch Sharing Plan allocates the International Pacific Halibut Commission Regulatory Area 2A Pacific halibut catch limit between the Washington treaty tribes that fish for Pacific halibut, the Washington, Oregon, and California directed and incidental commercial fisheries, and the recreational fisheries. For 2024, the Pacific Fishery Management Council recommended several minor changes to the portion of the Catch Sharing Plan covering recreational fishery season opening and closing dates, open days per week, and establishment of a new management line at Point Arena, CA creating two subareas within the California Coast subarea. The changes expand season length, and increase angler opportunity. This rule has minimal economic impacts and will primarily affect recreational anglers.
