| Title: Changes to Streamline the Electronic Priority Document Exchange Program | |
| Abstract: The United States Patent and Trademark Office (Office) proposes to revise the rule of practice to streamline the priority document exchange process by providing as a default that the filing of a subsequent application with a foreign or international intellectual property office that claims priority to a U.S. application will be considered an authorization for the Office to provide access to the U.S. application to participating intellectual property offices. The changes would reduce request failures. Applicants who do not want the filing of a subsequent application with a foreign or international intellectual property office that claims priority to a U.S. application to be considered an authorization for the Office to provide access to the U.S. application to participating intellectual property offices may opt out by filing a notice to that effect with the Office. | |
