| Title: Preservation of Tooling for Major Defense Acquisition Programs (DFARS Case 2008-D042) | |
| Abstract: This rule proposes to Amend the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) to address requirements for the preservation and storage of unique tooling associated with the production of hardware for major defense acquisitions through the end of the service life of the end item associated with such an acquisition. The rule implements section 815 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2009. The rule requires that the milestone decision authority approve and periodically review a plan for the preservation and storage of such tooling. The rule also provides a mechanism for the Secretary of Defense to waive the requirements and certain circumstances. Because the rule addresses internal DoD procedural matters only, DoD expects minimal if any economic impact. | |
